These photos of Chaplin were taken by Lee Miller in Paris in 1931. Miller met Chaplin in 1927 and the two are rumored to have been lovers. According to Miller, following the session Chaplin told her that “he had never had such a good time in his life as he had with what he called my surréaliste photography”.
